BANGALORE: Lakshmeesha's story of taking adversity in his stride and not giving up his dream is truly heart-warming. His father Lakshminarasimha Swamy recalls the tragedy: "After the accident, he was immediately rushed to Apollo Hospital, Mysore, for treatment and discharged on April 25. Doctors advised complete bed rest," he said.

From April 26 onwards, the parents did their best to help him prepare for the CET. "My father took leave and read out the lessons to me,'' Lakshmeesha said. "My wife Bhuvaneshwari and I would take turns and read out the lessons to my son. From 8 am to 12 noon, I'd read to him. In the afternoon, she would take over. The doctors advised rest for at least 12 hours. I want my children to do well," Lakshminarasimha Swamy said.

For mathematics, the parents would read out formulae and show him questions. "The PU department was kind enough to arrange for a scribe for my son,'' said the father.
