Aussie dad reunited with kids kidnapped by Swedish mother PDF Print E-mail

AN Australian father has been reunited with his sons, six months after they were kidnapped by their Swedish mother.

Police said Ann-Louise Valette had been arrested in central Sweden and was being held on suspicion of abducting 11-year-old Frank and his nine-year-old brother.

The children's father, George Pesor, said he was in a meeting with prosecutors and Sweden's chief-of-police and could not comment further.

An international arrest warrant was issued for Valette last year after the two boys, who had been living with Mr Pesor in Victoria, failed to return from a custody visit with her.

Police spokesman Svante Melin said Valette and the children were yesterday coping well "under the circumstances''.

"As we woke them up in the middle of the night and separated a mother from her children I don't know if it was shock but there was a reaction,'' he said, adding that Valette did not resist arrest.

In January, the local media reported that Valette may have been receiving help from a Swedish group called The Cobra Association to avoid detection.
